Microporous Polypropylene Film

Microporous Film is a chemical resistant polypropylene substance permeated with tortuous micro pore channels that extend from one surface to the other. The pore channel dimensions are small enough to allow passage of gas but too large for powdered sample particles and liquids to penetrate. Attached to the 1500 Series Sample Cups, gas permeable evacuation paths are established that maintain pressure equalization between the sample cup and chamber in vacuum or helium optical environments. This process maintains flat thin-film window planes and enables uniform sample plane-to-excitation source distances for statistically reproducible analytical data.

Microporous Polypropylene Film is also available in convenient-to-use precut circles that offer convenience, ease of use and eliminates waste. The precut circles are packaged in units of 100 that correspond to the number of 1500 Series sample cups in a pack.
