Top Loading 32 and 40 mm Double Open-Ended Sample Cups Offer Two Pressure Equalization Methods
Provided with two similar Snap-On Rings: one for attaching a thin-film window for top sample loading and the other for equalizing pressure differentials through optionally available Microporous Film or Vented Snap-On Caps.
Microporous Polypropylene Film is permeated with tortuous micron size channels extending from one side of the film to the other. In vacuum, the channels provide the venting means for allowing entrapped air withdrawal from the sample cup while prohibiting the larger-than-pore size sample particles and droplets from escaping. Alternatively, in helium the micron size channels permit the inert gas to enter the sealed sample cup. This bi-directional feature maintains a flat sample window plane-to-excitation source distance.
The optionally available Vented Snap-On Caps have four narrow slits and concentric ridges on the interior. When assembled to the flanged end of the cell, a series of physical barriers is established. In vacuum, the barriers serve to physically overcome the initial surge of evacuation and retain the sample substance in a static state. In helium, the slits allow the introduction of the inert gas into the sample cup. The sample window plane-to-excitation target distance is maintained uniform.
The Snap-On Ring Assembly form taut sample planes resistant to deformation attributed to pressure differentials. The 32 mm size sample cups are also available with serrated cutting edges for trimming both Microporous Film and thin-film windows. The handy Palm Held Fastener and Snap-On Ring Fastener facilitate affixing windows.
